On harp: Charlie McCoy!

Born in Oak Hill, West Virginia (1941), harmonica-wizard Charlie McCoy made his debut as a sessionplayer on Roy Orbison's 1961 hit "Candy Man". This started a career that would see him play with all the great artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Ringo Starr.

And although Charlie has been playing sessions now for over 45 years he still likes to sit in on a session whenever his busy schedule allows.

Last week Charlie made a stop at our studio to play harp on two songs that will be part of a new cd. It was amazing to watch Charlie getting familiar with the songs in very little time and then play two beautiful parts that showed his fabulous technique, timing and taste. He played like he new the songs for a long time already and with great empathy.

Needless to say the rest of the evening was filled with many great stories and a lot of music.
